My wife, Sue, and I chose to create Cloverland Ag Service for several reasons:
Initially, I became disabled to the point that I could no longer farm 175 acres or teach high school science classes. This coupled with our sons growing up and going to college and into the military services resulted in my wife and I having to give up a major part of our lives that had always been there. We found that we really missed being involved in agriculture and interacting with other farmers. Consequently, Cloverland Ag Service is a business opportunity that lets us still give back to agriculture and farmers and yet is within the physical parameters of both my wife and me.
Secondly, when we farmed; we chose to farm organically and/or sustainable. This was a personal philosophical choice and one we still embrace. However, we always found challenges when it came to finding organic certified seed, fertilizer, and specialized equipment to maintain our choice of farming methods. Over the years, we discovered businesses, usually run by other organic farmers, that could supply quality certified seed, fertilizer, and equipment. One of these companies was Albert Lea Seed. My wife and I decided that by becoming a dealer representative for Albert Lea Seed in Ohio, Western Pennsylvania, and West Virginia, it would be an ideal way to stay involved in agriculture, make new friends and acquaintances involved in farming, and supply a quality product line which not only includes certified organic seed but also untreated and conventional lines as well. Our area is just big enough to be challenging yet fulfilling. We started with Albert Lea Seed because they truly live up to their statement that “we strive to provide personal, honest, and caring customer service.” Sue and I believe we do too. Furthermore, if we can’t supply your agricultural need, we will help you find it – even if it means sending you to another company.
Lastly, Cloverland Ag Service allows us to grow in directions needed by our customers. Perhaps as we traverse our little slice of America, farmers will share with us those hard to find products needed and we will oblige by adding other lines of products.
I hope you understand us a little better now and that you will trust us to help you as you farm. We are here to “personally serve you with honest and caring customer service”.
